Maybe you could cover the refrigerator bullshit going on. Our refrigerator lights are hidden under some effing panel that can't be taken out except by a repair man so we can't replace the LIGHTS. The minimum to get a repair man out to the house is $125. To replace the $8 lights. What bullshit is that???
How about the dollar store dome lights that you press to turn on? That's what we use on our 40 yr old, still working fridge, since the switch thingie that turns it on when you open and close the door broke. They even come with a sticky back adhesive to mount it on top!
Biggest new scam is washers and dryers. 3k$+ and 2 hour long washing cycles and your clothes still arent clean. Washer stinks up clothes, dryer works for 6 months. Meanwhile grammas w&d from 1967 still washing like it was new with a 15 min wash cycle, clothes are clean! dryer still hot as hell maybe had a new heating element added since she bought it.
A lot depends on space and the rest depends on finance.
If you have the space to get a new set of machines (expect something to break right at the expiration of the warranty date) and keep the old ones as either backup or to wash the clothes that you cut poison ivy with, then you are ahead of the game. ALL new appliances I've ever gotten required a major part change within the warranty period but since I don't let strangers in, and the service call is NOT COVERED I merely bought the parts and fixed it myself.
Someone with a bit of ambition, sense, and aptitude should be able to get at least the parts catalog with explow dedt view of how the parts go in and their item numbers to change out a lot of things on even modern refrigerators that are not part of the pressurized system.
Except for the part where some red-headed engineer designed a part from the inside out and let the leprechaun escape out the grill in the back.
Repairmen have always been incompetent and shysters and if they are rough-handlers you have to call them back to fix what they broke after they replaced the previous part.
Perpetual Pain Machine.
So, if you have some REALLY BIG COOLERS or another refrigerator, then you can just move your food out, work on the machine at your leisure.
DO IT RIGHT.
and then walk away until the next part engineered to fail finally goes.
We regretted getting rid of our nearly 40 year old GE refrigerator but there are some systems that are beyond repair/replacement so you have to move on.
I was hoping that people of discernment and experience would come to visit.
1970s dryer, as you say: Hot as Hell, a tiny squeak on felt-covered 'bearings' and done in one 'cycle'. Brand new machine with ENERGY SAVER and you have to go down half cycle turn it back to the FULL HEAT SETTING thus running a 50 minute cycle for 70-90 minutes to get things dry because some college puke designed a non-working machine in order to suck the dick of Congress making 'laws' that required MORE ENERGY.
The default conclusion is that they did it on purpose.
One of the traps that were wired into people's brains is that Yahoodim are only the Margaret Hamilton Wicked Witch of The West-looking 1/39th of the tribe members but somehow are incapable of including the Branson, Johanson, Drumpf, Biden, Obama, Oosama, Bernanke, etc. etc. etc. family members that are in everything and run everything.
I know, right? How energy efficient! As an aside, same goes with new dishwashers: the first ones invented, demo'd at one of the world fair /expos back in the 1950s, washed and sanitized dishes in less than 5-minutes.
For the past 3-years I have been relegated to babysitting my new washer and dryer. The top load washing machine has a lid-lock for 'safety' (yah, bcuz well, "SAFETY 1ST" but apparently(??) manufacturers don't want to be sued over someone who decides to jump into the machine during its spin cycle - wtf!) which makes it impossible to actually see what the f*ck is going on in there while it's beating (more like plunging) the hell out of your clothes. I unscrewed, thus disabled the lock mechanism on mine. Having done this, I can now see that very little water is 'allowed' (water conservation ... see?) into the basin /tub. Long story short, for every load of laundry, I find myself now standing there at the sink filling bucket after bucket, adding up to 12 extra gallons of water. Having disabled the lid-lock also allowed me to see that they've programmed the things to use intermittant cold water when you've deliberately select HOT: I always use HOT water in my wash. No way no how to gerry-rig that one.
And that 'energy efficient' dryer!! Omg, okay, I'll stop ...
Frankly I'm surprised that either of them (unlike my new Kenmore coffee pot) were designed to 'allow' me to silence (wow! simple push of a button; no screwdrivers necessary) the ear-piercing back-up beepers. Safety first, my arse.
A few ladies and I noticed that a couple decades ago if you used heated dry the stuff inside would come out DRY. These days there are puddles everywhere on the dishes.
I gave up using a dishwasher totally when I was using it to clean and sterilize my ferment jars but ALL OF MY FERMENTS FAILED. I went back to hand washing the jars but still used it because as a bachelor a couple extra hours in the day were important to me. Then when I had to do a repair I saw that the sump is always wet (and DIRTY) AS A TRAP AGAINST SEWER GASES BUT THAT IS NO DETERRANT FOR NYMPH COCKROACHES TO COME UP THE SEWER AND LIVIN THE BOTTOM OF OF THE SUMP.
I told that to one of our ladies and Low!! and Hold Bees! she found that her's was a roach-haven as well. A little borax handles the invasion force but I then knew why the ferments were failing even though the dishes were washed at the highest temp and heated dry.
They were contaminated.
I now use the gutted dishwasher as a mega drying rack and this old bachelor now spends an hour or more warshing dishes.
the college puke that engineered in the cold water into the hot should be transported back to the days of stocks and pillaries.
Ever smell rotten tomatoes? They would throw them at the imprisoned and you would be left overnight with no coverings. Heep bad medicine even in the summer.
As you observed it's never been about safety just liability risk-management. Visions cookware by Corning is GLASS. Glass will do some interesting things if you take it directly from the stove (electric burners can heat to 700-1100 degrees and then pour cold water in them.
We are being pandered to the lowest possible I.Q. so that those who aren't Masochistic morons have to suffer for the bulk of humanity who have to whistle to know what end to wipe.
Would be kind of fun to be a fly on the wall while they're hatching their absurd design ideas. I imagine the little fff*rs with their beady little eyes all sitting around the drawing board passing worn out, blistered crack pipes back and forth ... Ha! rotten tomatoes!!
You just described how they framed the Constitution. Rumor was that the smoke from the hemp was so thick you couldn't see across the room and their eyes were so squinty they couldn't see anyway.
They engineered furnace secondary heat exchangers so fantasically fucked beyond imagination that it KILT PEOPLE they shrugged, paid off a few claims against them and kept going with the same fucked up design.
O'thangaaawwd I don't have that issue. To be honest tho, I can't say I've ever had to look inside the sump but I imagine that day might be coming as my machine is working its way toward the 7-year-warranty mark. Otherwise, I equate dishwasher sludge-luvin' cockroaches with those that engineer these ass-backward machines.
While I don't use the dry feature on mine (I just open the door and let it evaporate ... lol, saves electricity, not that I give a rip about my nor anyone elses 'green' footprint). I have noticed that my parents', who don't mind waiting 2-plus hours for it to run its cycle, never come out completely dry. Good catch, though! I run my used dirty jars through the dishwasher but when canning I also wash and dry, with good old-fashioned lye soap, by hand.
The power went out in my rear bathroom and office last week but the circuit breaker box showed no tripped breakers. I couldn't figure it out and had to call an electrician. We discovered the breaker to that circuit didn't entirely trip off but was stuck half way off. So that solved the non-problem. But the electrician got a proposal from his boss to replace my breaker box for $7,500. He didn't know that I am a real estate appraiser who has gut rehabbed four houses and in each of them I replaced the circuit breaker box. It didn't cost me more than $2,500 in 2 houses in California, one house in Texas and another in Arizona. So he wanted to gouge me for a $5,000 premium. I told him I was going to write a negative review on his company in the HOA news website. Contractors are hungry for work but only want to gouge.
Same with my HVAC repair company. When they called to do the annual maintenance on the Central A/C system I told them I had installed a wall AC unit in one bedroom and a window AC unit in the other bedroom, and only use one of them during the hot summer and never turn on my Central HVAC unit. I think I took away their "entitlement".
A half-trippy is a tricky thing. If you have Square D with the clear window that shows the red plastic, sometimes alls you see is a TINY SLIVER of red but the circuit is still open. Other breakers will only have the tell by feel that it is not fully one way of the other and sometimes you have to jerk them back and forth before the spring resets.
I probably covered this on my other substack that was taken down:
Pre-covid a handiman with a ewe toob channel was bragging that he was making $1000 a DAY and would take you on a tour. One yuppie had called him to their expensive house TO CHANGE A BATTERY IN A SMOKE DETECTOR and the guy gave the channel owner $100 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no one can DO anything anymore. No one knows jackshit about Jack or Shit so they figure they can tell you $7500 and you'll just roll over and provide the vaseline.
I LOVE how you depants the extortionists! It's ALWAYS worse than we THINK it is when it comes to gov regulation. I suspect that THIS is another reason WHY they always want to you to register "stuff" for warranties & such too!
SO, I've got a "NEW" old stock round mercury dial thermostat in a box somewhere around here Locating it is proving difficult.
It'll look dumb on the wall anyways (IF I ever locate it) cuz of the "possibly broken" thermostat is 5"wide x 4"tall rectangle & I painted AROUND it. Eggshell over blue gray. Smart move heh? But HEAT over vanity!!
I see there's 4 wires. coded with letters. Y/O R/Jump? G & something unreadable. Goodie. I have no RED wire....maybe the brown one will work?
AND now, my craftsman digital multimeter is not metering. Oh the joys of LIFE!
Still contemplating running away. ... well, in my case...I'm several decades over 18 ... so I'd technically just be LEAVING. Lololol You truly are a GEM Patrick. ... Not sure I would have come out of this event so chipper if it weren't for YOU!✨💖✨ Thank You! :)
This is why I don't buy into any of the ISMs. The US was FOUNDED on Fascism = corporate control of the govern mente. All you have to do is see that the United States is incorporated in Maryland. It always was a corportation so to even think that there was separation of filthy lucre from State or church from State (did I just repeat myself?) is plain idiocty.
As a test you can copy the wire colors to their letter associations from one unit to the next with the only consideration being how your AC is set up. If you need instructions for the old round mercury device then you can find them online.
The cycling may be different. The digital ones have longer space between on/off when there is a wind and the house gets and stays cold. But if swapping it allows your furnace to work then that shows it was a factor.
HOWEVER... if your circuit board is fried from the waterfall from your AC then it might have been the board that took out the thermostat.
IF you can get your multimeter (I should have known a girl like you would have one) then we can do some seary ass investigating to check out the board first before replacing the thermostat that might blow again if the board was bad.
Check your battery in your meter and canabalize whatever you can to get it working.
Meet me back in email and we'll do some more sleuthing.
So sorry to hear you came out of a wood chipper. I thought there were guards in place to keep that happening. Write to me with your one good hand and we'll figure that one out too.
Since a lot more folks might be mining the comments here's a pattern of failure that I've seen:
Installers are fuckshits.
They can CAUSE a system failure that is due to either the secondary heat exchanger or the AC system leaking then shorting out devices like inducers and circuit boards although the inducer control board is a secondary controller to the fan controller so you can see that one domino can take out another. The thermostat is the Call For Heat that is wired directly into the fan controller so the thermostat can either fail directly or be taken out by the fan controller.
It takes a lot of testing and...
this is the part you'll hate...
up and down the stairs
as you try to isolate what system or systems failed.
People all over the world swap parts when they lack the tools or diagnostic skills but if something was the primary fail and you swap out a new device that was only a secondary fail then you risk burning the new part out because the first in line was never corrected.
I'm not trying to depress you, but no one tells the owners the truth so the prospects seem grim. It's best to repair furnaces first thing in the spring so that 6 months later it will be working when needed.
IF you find that the battery is nasty inside your VOM, then put on some gloves, pull out the battery(s) and wipe the powdery mess down with some rubbing alcohol before you attempt to be new batteries in. If the are only discharged then put the best of what you might have on hand in there.
Off Topic - This regime change in Syria is interesting. Syria has its own central bank and bans any corporate owned businesses from entering the country - they make their own soda drinks and ban Coke and Pepsi. They make their own clothes and no corporate owned farms. But under Assad they grew dependent on Russian and Iranian money to pay their military which was corrupted by the money. Machiavelli once wrote that you can't win a war with a mercenary army. So, why did Syria fall overnight? Probably because foreign subsidies for their army ran out and the army having no allegiance to the people, and corrupted by an alternative offer from Yahoods and USA printed dollars, shifted allegiances and renamed themselves "Al Queda".
Moral of Story: there is no more virtue in a mercenary army than there is in an AC repairman.
I think I wrote the Anne Nick Dote about Lebanon following the public transport incident but I meant Syria. They're all part of the Levant so I lump them together in my mind.
It looks and sounds like a major crowd of people at the beginning of the short but then the camera pans out at 36 seconds which is 666 and hell, not many people there at all. It's looking like a made for TV script of his story to me.
Oh for sure those toppling the Assad statue were paid operatives for a photo op.
BTW the fall of Syria reminds me of the 1950's Hungarian uprising against Russian Communism and concurrently the Suez Canal crisis with Egypt and Russia. The US kicked the Russians out of Egypt but passed on kicking them out of Hungary. So, the Russians let the Suez Canal go in a trade for keeping Hungary. This is similar to now where Russia allowed Syria to fall to protect Iran from being carpet bombed when Trump gets in office. Russians think in the form of a chess game - I will let you take my Pawn if I get to take your Knight.
Oh, I agree, and I think we are going to have a rerun of the Kennedy ass-ass-ination in 2025, the year of the snake. 1963 was year of the snake too. THey love the SERPENT. If I recall correctly Pearl Harbor was year of the snake. Yep, I just checked. SNAKE...SNEAK...KANE...CAIN.
We got royally fucked when natural gas finally came through our rural area. They took out our huge oil burning furnace and replaced it with a tiny-ass high efficiency unit that gives about a mouse farts' worth of heat in minus 40 temps. We might get a rats' fart worth in normal northern Ontario minus 20C.
Our neighbour the HVAC guy said yeah... Those old huge farm houses aren't meant to have high efficiency furnaces. It doesn't work. But your HVAC company who installed it got a smokin' deal on all the HE furnaces and slapped them in all the houses up here. New or old homes. The bigger old homes need much more powerful furnaces.
This is the Bait & Switch that has been used by computer companies from the beginning.
Your old programs THAT YOU OWNED no longer work on the new machine. You can't MAKE them compatible you have to get a new machine to run new programs.
In order to transfer your data you have to have a NEW CORD, a NEW DATA STORAGE, and then after a few months the same process repeats to the point where you stop shaving everything but your moustache (ladies too) and wear a straw hat and call yourself plain and simple.
First off: Thanks for reposting the 1972 WHO Memos.
You are doing a great service.
That was the other thing that absolutely stopped all contact between me and the pimps that wanted to whore new machines to me: Smart thermostats. I told the would-be installer that I didn't want the government seeing my fuel usage and being able to turn off my heat via the internet. He said that the smart feature was only available if you chose to use it.
NPCs got no reason to exist. They certainly aren't living.
The original memos have been mostly scrubbed off the internet. I had to go to this place called vaccinefraud to get the originals that hadnt been redacted.
I converted the website to a word processor document and was surprised to see that there was 112 pages of material there, so I've been impressed by folks who write to me that said they read the entire site.
The Cloud was designed as the greatest psyop to disappear all knowledge when they claim it goes down or was hacked. Therefore I tell everyone to save anything of value offline. My last book on the WHO Memoes has a subtitle that they are "A Deposition of Crimes Against the Biosphere".
My over-arching point being that if we maintain the records then if we ever got control - even in their system - there is no statute of limitations on Fraud or Murr Durr.
I like that. "New shit is just shit. It doesn't work". Funny because I fixed 2 spectrum analyzers at work today that are 35 years old. This old shit is damned near bulletproof. I don't touch modern electronics anymore.
Yeah the fat kid I work with told me to make notes on what I did. I gave him the service manual from 1989 and said read the fucking manual. It's not hard. Idiocracy is here.
in 1989 technical manuals weer knot ritten in engrish as a secrond langrage.
I was just looking at a sewing machine manual from 1889 and except for a few passages you had to read a couple times to familiarize yourself with the parts, their names and their functions then extrapolate what the instructions were they were a joy to read over
Thank you for your sanity. In October we were told that our 2007 gas furnace would "need a new mother board" because "looked like it might be fried" ...seems a truly stupid and clumsy HVAC plumber kid jostled the wires while doing (ahem) preventative maintenance (never again), during which, he managed to harm the call and response for our furnace - but the bossman plumber (age 40 ish) blamed us and charged us and threatened me ina voicemail (! ) with the dire consequence of never having their services again (hahaha) for trying to reason with his employee (the manager!) (because reason is apparently aggression and one can yell by never raising their voice if the hearer is discomfited). Afterward, my husband accidentally re-jostled them into place while closing up the furnace that the kid left open and it started working. Amazing. So far so good (there is now a new error code won't go away)
it is functioning normally. I also immediately noticed that the kid changed the factory settings, which is specifically Not Recommended... so I changed them back.
If you only knew what preventative maintenance is... you would be shocked at what they DON'T DO to ensure that things fail down the line not just stepping on the wiring harness with their bare bear paws.
Things don't "LOOK" non-functional, they TEST nonfunctional.
Here's what was described to me by a guy that rayped me and helped me and then tried to raype me again... "These young guys don't know anything about troubleshooting old machines. The new boards have codes on them so they just look up the codes and swap parts."
I could train a chimp to do that.
Is everyone weeping children now with adrenal glands so busted they can't even have a civil conversation without calling the cops for a hayte cryme?
Here's to the Millennium Falcon method of fixing things!
Smack it until the hyperdrive kicks in.
Just kidding if something is that loose it can cause a short that then takes out the fan control board !!!
If you don't mind sharing personal information in public then I would like to know what brand of furnace it is, how old it is, and what the code is.
I started writing a book on all of the scams they run.
If you don't want to make that public then I would be happy to converse by email
if you don't mind sharing the information personally.
Good for you for resetting the factory settings. This is just proof of malicious idiocy coupled with insane insatiable greed to keep them coming back to fix
WHAT THEY BROKE
until they FALSELY declare the unit unfixable to
SELL YOU A NEW UNIT
that will break faster because there are idiots at the helm of the factories now that can't even make a part that comes off an assembly line that can last more than weeks or months.
We're being returned to the Stone Age.
Thankfully globe hell warming will make central ILL Annoyed beach front property with subtropical climate so we won't have to bother with furnaces...
Thank you! I appreciate your time. I finally had time to get my info together. It is Triangle Tube Prestige Solo 110 water boiler (we have radiators). It was installed and put into service in late 2009. The error code is for the hot water: it says -22 and the manual says that indicates an "open circuit."
The "error code" shows up in the INFO Mode. The manual says "-22 typically indicates an "open" circuit. Whereas a temp reading of 240 typically indicates a short-circuit. " Our hot water is an indirect system heated by the boiler. -22 refers to the DHW supply.. sorry for the lack of clarity.

I have a magnetic flashlight adhered to my fridge ...😂 I feel your pain girl!
I also have PAYNE furnace.... It's all in the name!
😂 Sham-payne furnace. What a good idea about the flash light. Thank you! Will do. Much better than a $141 bill.
You're welcome :)
Lol... Sham payne🥂 Love it!
Cheers!
Her fern ass done popped its cork and now it's fizzing all over the place.
I've heard inside stories on how they make refrigerators to break.
stay tuned.
See my reply to Heather😉

Thank you thank you thank you! Will get some tomorrow! My husband also thanks you. He won't have that to cuss about now. 😂
Say it with cash baby!!! Lol kidding.....
Hubby has been a high-fallutin', union industrial electrician for almost 50 yrs. Wow. He's old as dirt!

Starve the constrictor of anything to suffocate.
Sponge Pat - Square Pants.
Thank You Pat!
I never thought of THAT, about the circuit board possibly blowing the stat.
I'll have to deal with the meter tomorrow...(hopefully).... It's all the way over THERE...
I'm hurtin for certain today.
I'll get ahold of you tomorrow ...
Hugs
Well said :)
You don't depress me...Life depresses me. <grin>
I met a fellow in ill annoyed when i came back from california who said:
I'm not depressed... I'm OPPRESSED.
haha, I'm IMPRESSED, I can spell....lol
Nicely said.
I think I wrote the Anne Nick Dote about Lebanon following the public transport incident but I meant Syria. They're all part of the Levant so I lump them together in my mind.
I just watched this little short of the "fall" and I am perplexed and bewildered.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/m7R5HM714cE
It's a freaking scripted horror show pitting one country against another to keep the people in fear and DIVIDED against each other.
I agree it's a chess game....a 3D chess game.
Uh... It's a rerun.
This same bullshit with the same crisis actors played out when Sad Man Insane statute was caput.
Old shit WORKS with Old Shit.
New shit is just Shit. It doesn't work.
Gotta keep those working relics off line and frozen in time to preserve them. Theyll work forever long as you dont hook it up to the internet.
I had to go to this place called vaccinefraud to get the originals that hadnt been redacted.
good place: Vaccinefraud.
I know the guy well.
A guy can only dream.
I like that. "New shit is just shit. It doesn't work". Funny because I fixed 2 spectrum analyzers at work today that are 35 years old. This old shit is damned near bulletproof. I don't touch modern electronics anymore.
What happens when ALL of the tech breaks down and there's no one like us to fix it?
Cave living without the light from cell phones to keep people warm.
Yeah the fat kid I work with told me to make notes on what I did. I gave him the service manual from 1989 and said read the fucking manual. It's not hard. Idiocracy is here.
in 1989 technical manuals weer knot ritten in engrish as a secrond langrage.
I was just looking at a sewing machine manual from 1889 and except for a few passages you had to read a couple times to familiarize yourself with the parts, their names and their functions then extrapolate what the instructions were they were a joy to read over
please to putting the tab A into B slot
Thank you for thanking me.
If you don't want to make that public then I would be happy to converse by email
patrickjordansnewemail@gmx.com
if you don't mind sharing the information personally.
-22 refers to the DHW supply.. sorry for the lack of clarity.
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1240642/Triangletube-Prestige.html
the one above doesn't have your code...
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/823830/Triangletube-Prestige.html?page=15#manual
this one has good word descriptions but still missing your code.
There may be a fault in the wiring harness still but to what???
If the unit works then wait until spring because you don't want it going out in subzero weather.
I'm not a HVAC doctor I can't give medical machine add vice.
