NO ONE does the OTHER PART of the Scientific Method where someone actually TRIES to replicate a study. So, it's all taken at face value, put into the canon and everyone goes home with a paycheck.
Been doing This for 24 years an in that time I've read only 5 or 6 papers that could claim that they were actually science. That's some pretty damned abysmal odds.
