I love Mozart! Pretty strong on Bach. But feel free to complain about Beethoven, I think he's overrated. Except for the 5th symphony and the 9th. Vivaldi, meh...and thanks for the concert this morning.
I know it's hard to imagine that Frank is a bit out there even for someone like me. Great music, but the lyrics are like Linda Blair being T-boned in an intersection while she was rotating her head.
I'm a huge Steve Vai fan.
You just gave me a new idea for a Stack. Probably nothing you might expect but hopefully something that you might like.
there are many careers open in flute-aphone, accordion, and banjo.
It's never too late to start.
Know what?
I hate banjo too, but if you have never heard it played right... then you just pushed me into ANOTHER post to show people just what musicianship is all about!
do we have a choice about this indulgence? It seems that algorithms are the new egergores... AI is completely integrated now into human consciousness. It knows our thinking even when we do not, or are not aware of our own thoughts and choices, and arrogantly leads us along, deeper and deeper into the demon holes that Stephen King writes about.
Indulgences? Iddn't that what the Catholic church sells to get you out of Purgatory quicker?
Egergorian Chants. I think you're onto something here.
The A.I. has a Tell. It has a patina of what it thinks humans are and what they are like and what they like. I've seen it in A.I. created memes. I was taught by Fran Zetta to recognize A.I. art so every time I see that style I know it is totally artificial and REPLUSIVE. It can stereotype everything replusive in humanity and feed it back to them. Digital Echo chamber.
yes, AI art has it's own signature, I can definitely tell. I think people who paint in Photo realism have astonishing talent, while some say, if you want to look at a photo than just look at a photo.. photo realism is just like copying a photo.. But for me, knowing what it takes to render a photographic image from my eyes to the canvas and have it appear as if I am looking at the REAL scene,,, takes incredible talent and skill.
and Also David Ward, who is on substack... when you are looking at his gallery, and Scott's too, you will think you are looking at photographs but they are NOT... They are paintings
Boy, you really know how to poke me with a flaming stick!
Vahgner. The dude could write music. But I think his brains fell out when he had to write arias for his operas. I would rather listen to Dave Mustaine of Megadeth sing his two note nonsense all day long then suffer through a single libretto penned by Ree Card. It's so alien that a fellow who could compose such intricate non-vocal music was absolutely mentally paralzed (and the paralysis is contagious) when it came to SONG writing.

^ Love it!
Very nice. I always like Kottke.
You prompted me to remember something else about Beet Box that I need to post.
My son is an amazing guitarist. He belts out Ode to Joy with bends and tremolo to make it just so wid!
Frank Zappa's son: Dweezil, put out an album called:
My guitar wants to kyll your grandmother.
Some people are offended by the title because who doesn't love grams?
But it is the attitude that makes me smile.
Even something as genteel as Ode To Joy just screams like it wants the Marshal stacks turned up to 11 and start breaking strings.
Now you're talkin my musical language! We have an extensive Zappa vinyl collection and digital as well. Ol' Frankie baby knew the score. 🎼🎶🎵🎸🎷

How lucky, I wish I had a guitar player in my family!!
We are four guitar players 🤣🤣🤣
I taught my son his first chords at 6 and by 10 he surpassed his teacher..
Mama, papa, and two baby bears all play. Plus the estranged only grand daughter.
Not much of a band together but our family def has talent 🎸🎵🎶💖
Thats amazing.. Love that you taught your children to play and they took off with it. Much fun playing!
Everyone is free to have their own tastes. Strawberry and Tomato icecream is not at the top of my list, but if you like it...
Thank you for the GO light to ask the musical question on what Beethoven was smoking.
Lovely segue thank you! I ditto please keep complaining and sharing.
I have much classic music to catch-up on, both enjoying and learning.
And no not to play although I guess never say never… I meant more to learnt about.

As a guitar player, I've had great fun nooodling on a banjo and like you said, when the right person plays one...... Woweeee
Hang on to your pantyhose if you don't know what I'm going to reveal.
Earl Scruggs and the Beverley Hillbillies theme was good playing.
What I'm going to feature is like from another planet.
Roy Clark?
Bella Fleck? Now he really was from another planet methinks!
I should have known bettern' to scoop a musician.
Bela and the Flecktones blew my mind.
I'll stack what I think is their best concert.
Your wish is my command performance.
soooo, are ye tryin ta say we be in a sim... and it has its limits?
Anywhoooo, I love Ode to Joy.
47 seconds of your time... acoustic guitar version...

Have you ever indulged in the itterative nonsense that the A.I. puts out?
They were first 'training' it to emulate djent. It was an hour and a half of subtle variations of the same damned thing.
Hell, said Stephen King, is in the repetition.

That'll be another Stack.
Lol. Fair enough.
I only know the Helicopter song. Lmao is it called the 1812 Overture? No wait. I have no clue.
In gr. 6 we did a whole unit on Hayden. My music teacher (remember when we all had an actual music class!?) seemed to love him.
Flight of the VALKRIES!!!! That's the one in my head!
Bar Fight of Val Crying. Isn't that what they were doing at the Capitol Bill Ding in January with the horny headpiece?
🤣🤣🤣 omg you slayyyyy me PJ!
Beautiful.
I love many genres of music so this was a giddy delight, thank you. I love this rendition of Debussy's Clair de Lune.

Your first link alone made me stack the same tune 7 times.
The M&M link has some of the qualities of the ADSR that I talked about in the newest Stack.
I hadn't heard this piece. Very good.
