They are not cuddly. They live underground. Are eusocial one of only 2 mammals on the planet that have a queen. They do not get sick. Live mostly on tubers.
So we've got a Listerine called Western Fence Lizard.
He got that name because he discovered that the Western Fence Lizard is IMMUNE to Lyme disease even though it eats ticks and is often covered in ticks that carry it.
He either called or emails the lead author of the paper to ask what the secret was to the immunity. The condescending shithead said, "We don't know. We weren't studying that. We just were documenting that they were immune."
This can mean:
1. that they are idiots.
2. they are government agents that would never tell.
3. they were paid to keep their mouths shut.
At that level we don't even know what questions to ask.
A possum can't get rabies because their body temperature is too low.
- What is the mean temperature of a mole rat?
If they are hyper or hypothermic that might make a difference to the pathogens.
- do they have any Immunoglobulins that are unique to just that class of mammals?
- Are there inoculants in the soil at those depths that preserve them from other infections. The legend of streptomycin and other microbes like the one that lead to ivermectin being bugs in the soil outside of the lab it was developed give a clue to the antibiotic properties.
- what is their basal pH?
- what is their capacity to generate super oxide radicals and quench them?
- how long are the telomeres on their chromosomes? (shorter = faster aging).
Ok.. Those are great starts. I do know they have a lower temp then most mammals. They are totally fossorial. So lab results can of course make a difference. What are inoculants? It is not known if they have immunoglobulins that are unique.. But i havent searched a paper on that. There are very few researchers. About 6 or 7 total.
Thanks for these questions
I want to see if anyone else has studied the telomeres. Likely they have and didnt find the answer there. Behavior is likely just as important
Have you ever studied Damaraland mole rats? They do not get cancer. And they dont really senesce.
they sound like sharks but a little more cuddly.

Not cuddly? Do they have point noses, gills and sharp teeth?
Underground? Like New York City? I though E.U. social meant that they were from Europe.
So the English and mole rats have the same genetic makeup? or is that just mascara?
I would imagine that they wouldn't get sick if they don't spend anytime topside to catch those spike proteins in the air!
They live on You Tubers? Like shorts or the long videos?
Haha.. But seriously.. To me I'd like to know why they are immune to disease. And aging
What's the first thing you would look at, ask, about them that makes them exempt from disease and aging the way all other mammals do.
